Writing a book isn’t enough

1

One of the biggest problems that writers face is having to sell their book after they’ve written it.

In fact, selling your book afterward is probably one of the worst things you can try to do.

What? Am I crazy … what in heaven’s name am I trying to spout here. After all, the whole point of writing is to be read and without selling your book you won’t be read!

No I’m not crazy. In fact, you do need to sell your book. But you need to start the process before you even begin to write. In fact the first thing you should be doing is to identify who is going to read your book and why.

Once you’ve written your book (and incorporated your reader’s hot buttons), edited and refomatted your book it’s time to actually get out there and sell it.

Selling on the internet is actually pretty simple in theory. You drive traffic, give them something in return for their email, use emails to build a relationship and then along the way sell your book (or other product including audio, video, CD, DVD, webinars etc.).

In practice, however, building that initial list is a lot more difficult than it seems.

Now I’m the last person to claim that I’m an expert marketer. And while I can speak to it and teach people about it — I think you can do much better than myself (even if you can at least trust what I have to say).   Unfortunately, to build my own business I’m sort of forced to become an expert marketer.

So how did I become an expert (internet) marketer?

Well, I started out by taking a number of courses. But eventually I reached a point where I realized I needed a coach. Someone who could help me get ahead using this distribution channel. After a fair amount of research I settled on a chap by the name of Sean Mize. Sean came with three key ingredients … he actually was able to build a business on the internet from scratch (most started from web design companies), he produced his own training materials (most outsource both coaching and course development) and he told the truth (press a button and get tons of traffic isn’t his style).  And to boot he was the number 1 author on EzineArticles.com.

So why am I telling you all this?

I’ve arranged with Sean to make his courses on internet marketing available to you my loyal subscriber. The first of these is his List Building MP3  Series. This is a 10 MP3 training course that will turn you into a list building machine. Plus there are bonuses!

Missing Posts – Or Writing Articles Is Harder Than Writing A Book Part 2

0

Okay, as I said last post (yesterday???) I blame Sean Mize for my having to pull my posts from this week and next. (You can check out Sean at Internet Success Secrets or his new Internet Marketing Training website).

You see he’s been helping me with my traffic problems. And since his technique involves article marketing (marketing with articles not selling them), he’s had me wearing my poor little fingers to the nubbin. I usually write an article a day but he’s got me cranking out 25-30 a week.  .:ouch:

Anyway I had a great week last week and cranked out a whole mess load. In that mess were five articles on (the subject which shall not be named).

Turns out I did a bad, bad. They don’t like (the subject which shall not be named). Which I can respect. It’s questionable legally, it degrades the writing craft and it’s a cheat to both your customers and you. Cool. I understand that. Hopefully anyone who’s been around Internet Marketing for more than six months does too. However, it is a common, frequently used technique. And it does have its uses. And it is possible to write a balanced article about it. (Yes, that means it will be slightly negative article but it can be balanced).

Unfortunately, their opinion is that if it’s not negative about (the subject which shall not be named).: then it shouldn’t be published. Cool. I can understand that. I can appreciate that they don’t want to support the practice. So I yanked the articles and wrote ten or so different articles to replace them. Not good but I’m a big boy. I’ll survive. I’ll just use them elsewhere.

Like my blog.

OOPSSSS …   My very bad …

Seems that they are intending to wipe the world of any reference to (the subject which shall not be named).: .  They held all of my articles !!!    Everything I wrote on Friday, Saturday and Sunday got rejected!

Anyway I had to make a choice — concede to censorship or lose my article market. Did I say that I’ve already had a 259% increase and I’m heading for 400% (actually as of 5:30 today I’m at 290% with 5 days to go).

Now I may be a Celt but I’m not totally nuts … now you know why those posts are not there anymore! Now I have to figure out what to do with them. Anyone out there want a set of posts on (the subject which shall not be named). ?

On the good side, there’s lots of news on building an ebiz for me to share. Including the return of Paul (YAY!!!! ) and a really important video.  All of which will show up next week along with the good news that Sean has forced me to give you.

So have a great weekend and come back next Monday ….

P.S.

I forgot to mention that — just to T me off even more — Sean just published an article on (the subject which shall not be named).: on that self-same article publisher. And he got away with it!!! :Grrrr:  :-x :???:
