dt 028It is difficult to overestimate the importance of your target reader to your efforts and success as a writer of how-to books (or any other book for that matter). Your book needs to meet the needs of your target reader. How closely it does that will tell you how likely you are to interest them in purchasing your book. It will tell you how likely it will be that they will read your book. It will tell you how likely it will be that your readers will enjoy your book. And it will tell you how likely it is that they will be to buy your next book or course. In short, your reason for writing will help you to determine your perfect reader. But your perfect reader will help you write the perfect book for that target reader.
